Shilo Rousseau, turning 24 years old this year. She is a competitive Canadian Biathlete and Cross-Country Skier who grew up in a small community on the shores of Lake Huron in the town of Thessalon, Ontario. Shilo does her training in Ottawa while attending the University of Ottawa where she completed her honours thesis in electrophysiology studying potassium channel function. Now finishing her last course and is working on a research project investigating Micro RNA levels throughout development using ants as a model organism and
she is set to start her master’s program in cellular and molecular medicine in summer of 2024. Shilo started skiing at the age of 9 and did her first biathlon air rifle race at the age of 11. Over the years Shilo has represented Canada at many IBU, Junior world championships races in biathlon. Her most successful year came in Biathlon January 2023, where she attended the World University Games (FISU) representing University of Ottawa/Biathlon Canada where she managed to capture 2 gold and 1 silver medal. This was the first medals ever that Canada had
ever one in the sport of Biathlon at World University Games (FISU games). Shilo named the closing flag bearer for Canada at these games. Zizu optics has been by Shilo’s side providing great eye care and has been an amazing sponsor over the years.
